I may be wrong, but I don't think it has anything to do with number of reviews.

As far as I know, all prose pieces have a 50% chance of supplying a bonus MCP (Member Cent Pump) Oldtimers will remember that it used to be 25% (same as poetry) but it was rightly suggested that revie wing prose was themore difficult/time consuming and the site upped the ante to help get more reviews for prose.

So, my belief is that the reviewing lottery continues for as long as the piece is on the listing and that depends on the original certificate the author 'purchased.'

Now you have me questioning what I thought I knew! I've tried checking and easily found a story with 4 reviews that was still offering the bonus, but confirming what I said is more difficult. The site Q&A is somewhat out of date and doesn't even mention this bonus.

Just a guess - since we're all over the world, it is possible that seven people clicked on the bonus post around the same time and possibly got a bonus pump.
