Things in the night

My Evening Stroll

by Cecilia A Heiskary

The stars were shining in the sky
There were a million for my eyes
The night critters were moving around
You could hear scurrying on the ground

I took a walk to rest my mind
I looked around and what did I find
Some strange man was looking at me
I dug in my pocket and found my key

Let him come near me, I was prepared
He started walking toward me, how he dared
My mace was in my other hand
I was ready to take a stand

He approached me one little bit
I was ready to commit
He tried to grab me, shame on him
He reached out for one of my limbs

I pulled out the mace and got his face
He was pissed off and stood in place
I screamed at the top of my lungs
I smacked his face and he bit his tongue

Two police officers showed up on scene
They grabbed the creep like it was routine
He called me a bitch as they hauled him away
I walked away like it was any other day
