Connecting to the story of Christ's birth
Advent

This poem was inspired by memories of Advent and Christmases in those traditions my parents brought us up in. It seems to me that through these simple images of the advent wreath, the flickering candlelight, the figures gathered around the manger and the nativity scenes, we can make a personal connection to that miraculous moment thousands of years ago in Bethlehem when Christ was born. We can imagine ourselves there, and even though it is a dark time of year, the whole world and life itself seems to brighten and the weight of darkness seems to lift. estory
