A Bedtime Nursery Rhyme
Butterfly, Butterfly
Butterfly, butterfly, bright in the blue,
Your wings are the colors of morning dew.
You flutter through flowers, both yellow and small,
Bringing your joy to the garden and all.
🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋
Butterfly, butterfly, soft as a dream,
You dance in the sunlight beside the stream.
You whisper to daisies and lilies that call,
Telling the secrets of summer and fall.
🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋
Butterfly, butterfly, where do you go?
Past meadows of marigolds all aglow.
You follow the breezes that carry you far,
Guided by moonlight and one tiny star.
🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋
Butterfly, Butterfly, dusk’s gentle flame,
Drifting through twilight, whispering your name.
Your wings, like silk lanterns, shimmer and glide,
Trailing the hush where the sunbeams abide.
🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋
Butterfly, Butterfly, tender and fair,
Brushing soft dreams through the cool evening air.
You kiss every blossom in slumber’s embrace,
Leaving moonlight’s perfume in each quiet place.
🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋
Butterfly, Butterfly, ghost of the breeze,
Drifting o’er meadows and sighing through trees.
You follow the lull of the starlit sea’s hum,
Where silver waves cradle the night yet to come.
🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋
Butterfly, butterfly, rest when you may,
Fold your silk wings until the break of day.
Sleep till the dawn paints its soft amber sky—
Tomorrow you’ll waken, and heaven will sigh.
