What faith in God means in my life.
My Faith Sustains Me

I was born into an environment where, from the time I developed enough understanding to grasp the concept, I was taught to have faith in God. I trusted my mother when she told me God loved me, I could talk to Him, and He would hear me. I carried that assurance with me through my early childhood, believing that if I continued to trust God, I would have a home in Heaven when life on earth ended.
When I was ten, my mother and I had a brush with death while being sucked into the air by a tornado. We prayed for God to save our lives, and I believe a miracle occurred. We both blacked out, unaware of what was happening but free of fear. We never knew how long it lasted nor how high we went, but we were suddenly awake, uninjured and sitting upright on a section of rubble in a field. To me, this confirmed that God cared and intervened, allowing us to survive unhurt.
Over the years, I learned that bad things happen to good people, and prayers don’t always have the answers we hope for. I’ve listened to reasons non-believers give for their distrust. There have been times when my faith waivered, and I questioned God. My faith was tested, but always reaffirmed by certainly that God held me in His hands and loved unconditionally.
I feel confident God arranged my meeting with the man He knew I needed in my life. God was there comforting us and drawing us closer when we lost our first child. In times of doubt, I’ve witnessed miraculous things that defy explanation.
Over the years, my faith has solidified to give me peace, courage and the certainty that no matter what happens, God will always be with me.
