I confuse my muse with questions
Standing Room Only
by Tom Horonzy
As I drove along for yet another medical procedure, I mused once more on my oncoming death. No, not yet, but it is nearer today than yesterday, yes? Anyhow, a thought arose, having me wonder if there is a line to stand in when we cross over to wherever we go, be it paradise, heaven, or ... you know.
Anyhow, when I arrived home, I sought information on how many of our kind die each day. Guess. The number is large, with eight billion of our like-kind drafting one another across this world.
The answer... is one hundred sixty-three thousand, eight hundred and ninety-eight. That equates to 1.9 deaths PER SECOND! That huge number caused me to wonder how long the lines are for which of the three destinations we'll be assigned, and whether there is a "Standing Room Only" sign on our side of the portal.
Do we each draw a number upon arrival? Or are you called by name? Or maybe it is based on a 'time of death' forensic timetable? Imagine, with that many souls, how do the guards decide who preceded whom first? Do they have to do a mathematical equation transcribing seconds into milliseconds, centiseconds, or deciseconds?
(I also googled what is smaller than a second, and wanted to share the answer to my query.)
So here I am, seconds after midnight, having but one answer to all the questions posed. Therefore, I bid adieu, which by the way is not an acceptable word when playing 'Words with Friends.' Another poser needing a resolution.
For anyone reviewing this nonsense, I thank you for your time, and ask that should you think of additional questions I haven't mentioned to include them in your comment.

MH asked if there would be snacks
Another pal, (K) asked: Is it women and children first or more like a deli counter situation, and...
Is there a heavenly tailor that measures us for wings and halos?
Is there a heavenly tailor that measures us for wings and halos?
Evilynne posted some posers, including: Do we have to fill out questionnaires to get in? Maybe give references? Is there an interview?

As with me, the boy must be searching for answers his muse asked him.
The genre is selected to be 'biographical' as I did think these things today after having a nerve block inserted, perhaps too close to my brain. It's meant to be humorous as well.
