Peaceful Solitude

When asked why I no longer watch television, my reply is, I enjoy the quiet. Not hearing a constant chatter of unnecessary noise on television helps me to enjoy a quiet and peaceful solitude.

It is comforting to listen to the quiet. When surrounded by the quiet, my imagination has a chance to breathe. My inner self breathes in complete silence, which gives me a chance to put pen to paper and write to my heart’s content.

The best time I choose to write is during the wee hours of the morning, when everything is quiet. That is when my mind’s eye opens to the many possibilities available to its keen sense of creativity.

I grew up watching television with my mother, wishing I were somewhere else. Anything seemed better than babysitting my parent in front of the Boob Tube. When I think of all the wasted hours I spent watching TV, I could have been playing my piano or reading a book.

I could’ve reached a higher potential if I had my time back as a child. Instead, I wasted precious years that I will never be able to get back again. Yet, it is not too late to change to become the best possible person I can be, now that I am free from television.

I know I have made the right decision to stop watching TV altogether.

I do plenty of things to better occupy my time, such as exercise twice daily and go on nature walks with Connie.

I enjoy the quiet, and whenever I get a chance, I use mindfulness techniques to enhance my self-esteem.

Leaving the constant chatter of television behind has opened up new vistas for my imaginative daydreaming.

Daydreaming is one of my favorite pastimes. I choose to daydream instead of watching television.

This is a choice, bringing my true inner vision of imagination into my living room. It gives me plenty of time to enjoy peaceful solitude.
