Echoes Of Gunfire

by nomi338

The author has placed a warning on this post for violence.

Bullets pierce the air, bodies crumble to the ground,

The haunting echo of gunfire—an unwelcome sound.

Man’s inventions, mostly harnessed for good,

Yet this one, a double-edged sword, is misunderstood.

Hard to ignore its purpose when danger looms,

Yet warnings are unheeded, tragedy consumes.

Daily headlines scream of anger’s deadly spree,

As lifeless forms pile up, a grim reality.

I’m weary too, of this relentless refrain,

An angry soul reloading, fueled by pain.

They say they won’t take our guns away,

So, we gamble, pray, and hope for a safer day.

But fate spins its wheel, and when it’s your turn,

An angry man’s wrath may cause your heart to burn.

Your stomach muscles tighten as you try to run away,

It is then my friend, you will begin to rue the day.

Bruised spirits begin to cry out and wail

What is the cost of letting freedom prevail?

The price we pay for unrestricted gun ownership, in the face of attempts to enact stricter controls.
I am not for or against regulation, as I am not currently a gun owner.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
