I Love this Time of Year

by Debi Pick Marquette

When winter's gone, I treasure spring

The flowers, sun and rain will bring

Then spring will end and summer's here

I always love this time of year

The garden that my hubby plants

I love the fresh veggies it grants

I even pet the nibbling deer

I always love this time of year

A picnic on the patio

One day when there's no place to go

We'll sit and chat and have a beer

I always love this time of year

A week vacation with my crew

This monster lake's so very blue

I'll have my kids and grandkids near

I always love this time of year

Festivities around the town

September always windes them down

And summer's heat will disappear

I always love this time of year

I am using my poetic license for the word, "Windes." Actually it's an obsolete spelling of the word "Winds" rhyming like "Blinds." I like to use it because it is less confusing,
