Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
And what it means in our lives

Thankful for Freedom

by Debi Pick Marquette

Our flag and freedom just go hand and hand

So many sacrificed for this dear land

We can be anything we want to be

With hard work, in US where we are free

We can marry whoever we decide

Our kids have the freedom to play outside

We all go to the church of our own choice

We're free to have opinions and a voice

It's baseball, hotdogs and fresh apple pie

At night there's fireworks on 4th of July

I stand for the flag with hand on my heart

That's when I know that soon my tears will start

For my country, there's so much pride in me

Let's shout our victory from sea to sea

We thank God and our vets that we are free

It is hard to see that there is anyone who would still take a knee at sporting events when the National Anthem is played. During National Basketball tournaments I noticed two.
It's also hard to see vets who aren't being given more respect for what they did for us and people protesting against America.
I personally lost a boyfriend to the Vietnam War, and other friends and relatives. Plus, my dad fought in WWII and grandpa in WWI.
No matter what, I am proud to be an American!!
