The Perfect Gift

by Richard E. Parkison Jr

Have you ever really considered,
What they say about the Bible.
If it really could be true,
Or is it even reliable.

They have tried to prove it wrong,
For over two thousand years you know.
Even fighting wars over it,
Never once proven it wrong though.

It's a story of many,
Unified and just.
Something you can believe,
And something you can trust.

The Bible is our compass,
In a world full of pain and strife.
It is the light of our path,
Leading to eternal life.

It begins in the book of Genesis,
With the story of Creation.
Then continues on through,
Till the final judgment in Revelations.

The Bible speaks of faith,
The things hoped for yet unseen.
And once you open your heart to it,
You'll know what I mean.

It speaks of the tree of life,
In the garden of Eden.
As well as the fall of man,
When the forbidden fruit was eaten.

There's the story of Noah's ark,
Moses and the Exodus.
Continuing on through,
To the birth of our Lord Jesus.

You might think.. "what about the story of Jesus".
Well, what if it is really true.
If the Son of God really came to earth,
And gave His life for me and you.

Jesus is the Son of God,
Whom loves us with all His heart.
And His love is shown throughout the Bible,
From the very start.

The Bible speaks of... Jesus our redeemer,
As well as the cross.
The place Jesus gave His life.
Because the world is lost.

It speaks of heaven and hell,
The beginning and the end.
It speaks of good and evil,
And the deliverance from our sin.

All you need to do is read it,
And you too will begin to see.
The love God has in store for you,
Leading to heaven and eternity.

See, the Bible is not just a book,
It's God's living Word you see.
The perfect gift of God.
Given to you and me.
