Start each new day with a thankful heart...
We All Have Our Burdens
It's only human nature to be afraid of different things,
but have you been so frightened it took away your breath.
I felt that way after several days of painful medical exams
and the doctors told me this disease could cause my death.
Since being diagnosed with MS thirty-three years ago,
many of my bodily functions have changed a great deal.
Without any warning it destroyed my body and my life,
it came like a thief in the night looking for things to steal.
It took over my eyesight leaving me with double vision,
my eyelids swell and droop shutting off most of my sight.
It took away my job and forced me into early retirement,
there are times when I can barely tell if it's day or night.
It stole some of the muscles that control my movement,
which left me with no choice except to use a wheelchair.
Living with MS all these years required someone's help,
I thank God for my loving wife who's always been there.
We all have different burdens to carry, it's just a fact of life,
it is how we accept them, that is the most important part.
Life can be a joyous journey or it can be a constant struggle,
but we must face each new sunrise with a thankful heart.
