A poem to ponder

Dusty Whispers

Shh. Listen to the dusty whispers

of long forgotten memories

reemerging from our subconscious

into happy thoughts.

 

Do they help push away

the sorrowful losses

that haunt our nightmares

while we sleep?

 

Lost friendships.

Lost loved ones.

Lost favorite pets.

Lost childhood dreams.

 

Will they ever make up

for all of the long lost

times of yesterday?

 

We can discover and recover

the best parts of ourselves

if we try.
