Clara's Graduation

by Debi Pick Marquette

High School Graduate Contest Winner

A special day you've waited for

Your thoughts must be, it's here at last

I could not love you any more

But I'm thinking, it went too fast

Those precious years since you've been born

When little, how we loved to play

Those memories now have me torn

'Cause it's your graduation day

I am so proud as you can tell

Nostalgic and emotional

You'll always be my Princess Belle

For you, my heart is still as full

The world awaits your eager stride

No road too rough, nor hill too steep

With hard work ethics as your guide

Your dreams and promises you'll keep

When they announce that Clara Wall

Is next in line to graduate

You'll walk up there, so straight and tall

Then next stop is Bemidji State
