Chapter 32 Day a the Park
Here again, I had numerous things I could have written about but after the conversation I had with Andrew and the girls on Sunday, I couldn't resist this one.
Andrew called on FaceTime Sunday afternoon from a playground in the suburb of St. Louis they live in. After all the Mother's Day greetings and thank you for the beautiful bouquet of flowers were over, I asked about Katie. She wasn't present.
"Part of Katie's Mother's Day gift was to get the girls out of the house," replied Andrew.
I smiled and remembered the days with rambunctious little boys. Then I wondered, how my precious, darling little granddaughters could be anything but perfect. Oh well, another discussion for a later time.
I watched the girls play on the equipment and listened to their explanation of exactly what they were doing.
Before long the watchful eye and no-nonsense voice of my son said, "Girls, get to the car, now!" He paused. "Mom, I'll call back in a few minutes." He ended the call.
Very curious about what was going on, I waited impatiently with my phone. In St. Louis anything could be happening. It's not the safest city in the US.
Andrew did return the call. "Sorry, Mom, but a very interesting man parked his car on top of a rock. The center of the bottom of the car rested on the large rock. I watched him do it and still don't know how it was done. I fastened the girls in their car seats, turned on the air conditioner, and locked the car. I didn't want to have anything to do with this situation but felt I needed to try to help. About the time I got to the man, the police showed up. I left them in charge. As I looked back, the police were scratching their heads wondering how it happened."
Andrew handed his phone to the girls in the backseat, and I talked with them until he arrived home.
At their house, it wasn't long during our conversation that Andrew said, "Mom, I'll make you a deal you can't resist. You take the puppy, and I'll throw the cat in for free."
"I'm sure you don't mean that. You know Phoebe will outgrow puppy hood, right?"
"Maybe. Besides if I got rid of the dog, Eleanor would never forgive me. They're best buds."
I couldn't help but laugh. "I'm sure they're partners in crime."
"You got that right. Better start dinner. Cooking Katie cedar planked salmon."
"Sending lots of love. See you in a couple of weeks."

Thank you, Google Images, for a photo car parked on a rock.
I have a photo of Andrew and Phoebe I wanted to put at the end, but I don't know how to embed a photo in the writing. He was holding the pup when he made me the deal.
This post is a little over 400 words.
I do not edit these as much as I do my novels. You'll find many errors. I do edit about three times, but that's not nearly enough. I just posted this and have already corrected many mistakes. I'm sure there's more.
