What if we were left to deal with our own sin

If Jesus Did Not Exist

by Debi Pick Marquette

Gethsemane would be the place

Beloved Jesus had to face

The poison tongues of Pharisees

Condemned Him so the guards would seize

But what if He did not exist

If God had no redemption list

Nobody there to save our skin

And left to deal with our own sin

To God, we all have disobeyed

Without Christ, our sins are unpaid

No living water to the well

And when we die, would it mean hell

The "What if's" were for us to see

If He'd not been on Calvary

For us, there only would be loss

If He had not died on that cross

But God did not leave us that way

He sent His Son, for us He'd pay

I am a sinner, but He's there

I thank Him every day in prayer

I'm Christian, so Easter will mean

I have been saved, I'm sparkling clean

Yes, Christ died and He rose again

Thank you, Jesus; Thank God, Amen

Why do we say Jesus rose again?
Saying, Jesus rose again, is simply a way of referring to the resurrection of Jesus. Any confusion over the word again should be dispelled by the knowledge that words often have multiple definitions. The key point is this: Jesus rose again does not mean Jesus rose from the dead more than once. Rather, it means Jesus returned to life. Jesus was, for a time, dead but now is alive again.
