The picture of the Cricket Doll is actually my daughter's

Third Story Haunting

by Debi Pick Marquette

Where my three children used to play

And six grandkids had many joys

In our third story tucked away

Are now all the abandoned toys

My daughter's doll was left with me

Got lonely over forty years

When I removed the battery

She rolls her eyes and spit real tears

These haunted rooms are up the stairs

All of the toys are each antique

They've given me some major scares

When I went up to take a peek

Her Cricket doll now screams her talk

The other toys all move around

They moan and continue to stalk

We're tired of the horrid sound

These toys have us both at a loss

Why should we fear from down below

It's maybe time to show who's boss

So, guess we'll just pack up and go
