The confused space alien
The topic for this contest is: A confused space alien.
Suppose a flying saucer lands in your back yard. A little green man hops out and confronts you while you're taking out the garbage. He says, "I've listened to all your country's telecasts, news, sports, entertainment, everything, and I can't figure you Americans out! Where are you people coming from?"
Your task is to explain America to the space alien. Good luck! Those not from America may, if they wish, substitute their own country, as long as they explain this substitution up front. But I would be more interested in foreign views of America, and these would be most welcome.
Remember, you have to leave the space alien fully cognizent with how America works.
Minimum length 700 words. Maximum Length 7,000 words. Recommended length 2,000 - 3,500 words.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 25.00 member dollars. There are 7 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 60.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Sunday, January 3, 2010.
